No. When you buy a new PC, you can simply install Rummi on your new PC and enter

A3. Can I use my license for Rummi on a second PC?
Yes, it is a family (household) license. That means that you can use it on every computer or
laptop that you own and that is mostly used by you or by your family members who live with you.
It is not allowed to use your license on a computer that you do not own, or on one that
is not used by yourself or one of your family members.
You may not share your license with other people.

A4. Is Rummi available on a CD-ROM?
Sure. You can
buy the CD here.
The CD-ROM should arrive within 2 weeks, on average within 4-7 business days.

A5. How do I buy Rummi as a gift for someone else?
If you like to purchase a license as a gift for someone else, just go to the
order site
and make sure the
Gift box is ticked.
On the first page of the order process, enter your own name and address.
In the next page, enter the name and address of the person that the gift is for.
After you fully complete your order, the recipient will receive an e-mail message with a link
that they have to click to pick up their gift.

B. Entering license key
B1. Why won't it accept my license key when I enter it?
Probably you made a typing error. Make sure you enter your name
exactly as you supplied when you purchased your key.
Also, make sure that the system clock on your pc is set to the correct date.
If the date is too far in the past, the registration key will not be accepted.

B2. I had to enter my full name when buying Rummi. Can I change it afterwards?
I'm sorry, no you can't change the name. That is to discourage
people to share their license code with others.
You can however add a new player name: Options, Players, then click New.
If you set the new name as the default player (select the new player and check the
Make this the default player checkbox), the new player name will be selected automatically
when you start a new game.

B3. I ordered Rummi a while ago. When do I receive my license code?
You should have received an e-mail with your license key immediately after your order
was completed and your payment was received. If you didn't get such an e-mail, then maybe you
entered an incorrect e-mail address or the mail was catched by an over-zealous spam filter.
You can always
contact us if you have any questions.

B4. I've got a new PC. How do I get Rummi up and running again?
Simple. Follow these steps:
- Download Rummi again here and install it on your new PC.
If you have Rummi on CD-ROM, you can use that too, but it's better to download the latest version.
- Look up your registration name and key. If your old PC is still running, then start Rummi there and
choose Help, About from the menu. You'll find your registration name and key there.
- Enter the name and key into the copy of Rummi on your new PC. Make sure you type your name
exactly as listed.
- If you can't find your registration name and key, you can use the lost key
form to retrieve it.

B5. I lost my key. Do I have to buy Rummi again?
No, your key remains valid.
If you lost your key, you can use the
lost key form to retrieve it.

C. Game play
C1. The rows at the bottom take up a lot of space. How do I reduce this?
In the Play, Hand size menu, you can choose the number of rows that your
hand should take up.
Or, you can position your mouse pointer over the bottom edge of the green playing area until it
looks like a vertical double arrow, and you can drag the edge up or down.

C2. The computer player sometimes seems to think forever. Is something wrong?
No, probably everything is allright. Some computer players follow a strategy that requires them to think
deeper in some
game situations. If it takes too long to your liking, you can make the computer player think
shorter. In the Preferences window (Menu: Options, Preferences), on the
Computer tab page, you can tick the checkbox labelled Limit computer thinking time
to and select a number of seconds. Then the computer player won't think longer than that.

C3. The tiles are too small for comfortable gameplay. Can I make them larger?
There is an add-on with larger tiles, that you can
download here.
After you installed the large tiles, you can use them if you choose Options,
Cardset from the menu during your game.
To set them permanently for a particular game, do the following:
- Choose Options, Game editor from the menu.
- In the Game box, find the game that you play regularly.
- Click the Looks tab.
- Below the cardset image, click the ... button.
- In the window that opens, select the Large Tiles set or another set that has Large
in the name and click Open.
- Close the game editor with the OK button.

C4. The program acts strangely. It doesn't seem to obey certain rules and sometimes it crashes.
Can you fix this?
Uninstall Rummi.
Download the latest version
and install it. Do not use any cracks, or registration keys you get from someone
else.

D. Playing online
D1. I cannot play online. What is the matter?
Probably you are running a firewall on your computer. To enable Rummi to
contact the game server, you must grant the Rummi program internet access.
D2. I want to play Rummi on my home network. Do I need to be online?
Generally, you need to have a working internet connection in order to play online.
If your home network hasn't got a permanent internet connection, you can run the
local game server on one of the computers in your
network, and you'll be able to play across your network without accessing the internet.

D3. How do I change my player name?
You can add a new player name: Options, Players, then click New.
If you set the new name as the default player (select the new player and check the
Make this the default player checkbox), the new player name will be selected automatically
when you start a new game.
Or you can pick your player name after you choose Online, Play online.
D4. How do I start a new game when I am playing online?
You should of course play the game to the end, then it will start a new
game by default. (That is, as long as all players keep clicking OK
in every dialog window, and don't cancel the sequence.)
When playing online in a private game, there is one player that had to choose the game that you
are playing. That player can start a new game before it's finished. In an open game, you can't start
a new game before the previous wan is played to the end.

E. Competition
E1. How do I join a competition?
Choose Online, Play online from the menu, then in the window that opens click the
Competition button. That will display a personal Rummi online page where you can join a
competition or set up one of your own.
E2. Can I be member of more than one competition?
Yes, any player name can be member of as many competitions as you like.
E3. I am a member of several competitions; in which one will my game count?
Each of your game will only count in one of the competitions that you are a member of.
The system uses the following rules to determine what competition that is.
- If all players in a particular game are member of the same competition where a game
only counts if all players are member, then that is the competition where the game counts, for
all players.
- Otherwise, the competition where the largest number of players in this game is a member of,
is the one where the game counts, for those players.
- The previous step is repeated until all players have their game counted in one of the competitions
that they are member of.
- If, in any step, more than one competition would apply, then the one is selected where the players
in this game already have played the highest total number of games.
The name of the competition where your game counts, is also displayed in the
You win/You lose window.
E4. Can I have more control over in which competition my game counts?
If you want full control, then you should play with different player names, and sign up to only
one competition with each name. Then your game will only count for the competition that that
player name is a member of.

E5. I think someone is cheating to get a better place in the rankings! What can I do about that?
You should contact the owner of the competition, and he or she may decide to remove the cheating
player. You'll find a link to a contact form at the bottom of the competition chart.
E6. I have been removed from a competition. Can you put me back in?
I'm sorry, no. It was the decision of the competition owner to remove you, and only he or she can
allow you back in. You can contact the owner, or join another competition instead, or set up your
own competition.

F. Miscellaneous
F1. Can I make a backup of the program folder, in case something happens with my hard disk?
This is discouraged, because at the time of the installation some information
was written in the Windows Registry, too.
You could make a backup of the downloaded installation program, or you can just
download
the latest version of Rummi from this site whenever the need arises.
You should keep your registration details in a safe place. In case
you lost them, you can always
ask us and
we'll look them up for you.

F2. I don't have Windows but I like the game. Is there a version for Macintosh / Linux / Palm / etc?
I'm sorry, no there isn't. But remember that for some systems
there are Windows emulators available, so you could try and run Rummi
in such an emulator.
